To be safe is to be free.
Safe from harm; safe and secure from threats. You and your family are not alone if you feel less safe than you did just a year ago: Nationally, urban crime is skyrocketing and, here in Columbus, our statistics are well above the national average.
Weak leaders pander to perceived public opinion. They seek to avoid blame and scrutiny. These days, the 6 o’clock news does not have "breaking news" stories because a bad guy with a gun caused mayhem. Instead the media’s bad guy might actually be a cop trying to prevent a crime. We have a choice: Our police departments can talk with us AFTER the crime to fill out reports, or they can act to prevent crime. The choice is ours.
It has been said that America is a nation of laws: Many of our laws help ensure the SAFETY of “We the People”. America has felt safe enough, for long enough, that many of us simply took our safety for granted. America’s founders did not! In fact, on July 4th ,1776, when they declared America’s independence, they specifically cited the “Safety and Happiness” of the People as a guiding principal for our new government. America's founders pledged their Lives, their Fortunes, and their sacred Honor, to declare FREEDOM from the most powerful nation and ruler on earth! Yes, they risked EVERYTHING to form a new government that might offer the People “Safety and the pursuit of Happiness”!
SAFETY is freedom from danger or harm. If you are safe, you have the comfort that there are fair laws to protect us from harm AND there are selfless Americans who work hard to enforce those laws. Our laws are imperfect, but we have come an incredibly long way toward equal rights, equal opportunity, and equal justice for all. What has changed? Weak LEADERS have openly stopped enforcing the law! In many large cities, leaders have told the police “stand down” while laws are broken, property is stolen or destroyed, and innocent people are threatened, injured, or killed.
Weak LEADERS have openly stopped
enforcing the law!
Criminals win when weak leaders defund the police: Will you and your children be more safe? If your child's life was threatened, what would you want a police officer to do, stop the criminal, or call you to report the sad outcome?
Citizens deserve to feel safe, with fair laws, good cops, and strong leaders. When weak leaders abandon the laws they are elected to uphold, we must abandon them immediately, in the court of public opinion, and as soon as possible at the ballot.
Citizens deserve to feel safe, with fair laws, good cops, and strong leaders. When weak leaders abandon the laws they are elected to uphold, we must abandon them immediately, in the court of public opinion, and as soon as possible at the ballot box. Both locally and nationally, strong and just leaders are absolutely essential for our safety and our freedom!
So how might one person, like YOU, make a difference? Good news, it doesn’t cost any money and it doesn’t take much time to make a real difference. This is America, we the people matter.
